My Morning Routine

Developing a healthy morning routine has been one of my biggest challenges. Growing up, I haven’t been much of a “routine type girl”, I sort of just woke up and did something different everyday. It was all fine and dandy up until a few years ago. I always knew and heard about how important it is to develop a good morning routine to get the day started, especially when you’re on a journey to healing your body. For so long I have been stuck in a very unhealthy rut that was keeping me from building those healthy habits. It wasn’t until about a a couple months ago that things finally started to click.

It all started with my will to finally get up early and move my body. I have a friend who lived just down the street from me, so we decided to meet every morning at the corner around 7am to begin our 3 mile route around the neighborhood. We were doing so well, I was actually following through with it, and having her an an accountability buddy was extremely helpful. A couple of weeks into it, the walks became routine and we kept up with it pretty much every single day. Later on, we began incorporating hikes at a trail near us. We began switching off between walks around the neighborhood and hikes. I was finally in a good rhythm and that’s how my morning routine began developing. I was tired by the end of the day which helped me get to bed at a more reasonable time (not 2:00am as I had been doing for so long before). I was also waking up very early, which to be completely honest feels amazing! Scheduling our walks/hikes between 6:45-7am really helped set the tone for each day. By 8am I was back home and ready to get my day started.

I absolutely love using my FitBit Versa 2 to help me stay motivated and track my steps and calories with every walk, hike or workout that I do each day!

Moving my body first thing in the morning has been KEY. I am sure you have heard it before too, and I am first to admit that people have told me to do that for a very long time. This is the first time in a long time that I have actually stuck with doing exactly that in years. Once I got past the two or three week point, I knew that the habit had set in and now I make sure to never let more than one day go by without moving my body. Skipping two days in a row really sets me back, and it is much more difficult to get back into the swing of things. So if I need a rest day, I give myself one, but I don’t take two days off in a row.

Mid June I began learning about other ways I can help my body heal. By healing I mean: heal my skin from adult acne, heal my mental health by ridding myself of anxiety, and losing all the weight I gained when I was pregnant back in 2016/17 (which I have not lost… and even gained some). Now I am sure you may have heard about the trendy “Celery Juice” phenomenon. Living in the Los Angeles area, I am no stranger to fellow bloggers, influencers and celebrities hopping on the Celery Juice bandwagon. I even tried it myself some time ago, but didn’t stick with it. I never really understood it. All I knew is that it was healthy for you. So in June 2020 I began learning more about it and started learning more about Anthony Williams (aka the Medical Medium). I started following him (and others who follow his protocol) on social media and was amazed by what I was seeing! I quickly decided to purchase two of this books: Cleanse to Heal and Medical Medium: Celery Juice. Both books were amazing resources for me to learn more about healing the body naturally.

For about three weeks now I have been incorporating Anthony’s “Morning Cleanse” routine into my day to day. The Morning Cleanse routine includes starting the day off with 16oz of water with the juice of 1/2 lemon followed by 16oz of fresh celery juice, 30 minutes later. No joke, just one week in and I could already begin to feel the amazing benefits of following this routine. I usually wait to drink my lemon water and celery juice until after my walks or hikes because drinking all that liquid equals to a lot of bathroom breaks. Staying consistent has been fairly easy… mostly because I feel so good, so that encourages me to keep it up. I follow the Morning Cleanse routine Monday through Sunday. Over the past three weeks I think I have only missed 1-2 days, but other than that, I am drinking m lemons water and celery juice daily.

By the time that I am back from my walk/hike, I’ve had my lemon water and celery juice, I am ready to start my day. Because I need to wait half an hour between the lemon water and celery juice, I take that time to shower and do my skin care routine. When 9am rolls around I have already accomplished so much. I am energized, nourished, showered and ready to take on my daily tasks. I will be publishing a one month check in post later on this month, to update you guys on my experience with Anthony’s “Morning Cleanse” routine so be sure to check in around then if you’d like to learn more about it!!! I’d love to learn about your own morning routines– I am always up for suggestions or tips so please be sure to leave me a comment below and let me know what has been working for you!
